As holiday went on there was a showing of historical film about a long life of the stadium and the final moment was the movie, accompanied by applauses, when President Michel Platini announced Ukraine and Poland to be host countries that will take the Euro-2012.
Everyone were greeting players of Shakhtar and Dynamo, Ukrainian Olympians Sergei Bubka, Alexander Krykun, Olena Hovorova, Yana Klotshckova, legendary football players Oleg Protasov, Volodymyr Muntyan, Leonid Buriak, Oleksiy Mykhailychenko.
The President of Ukraine greeted everyone on the occasion of opening of one of the biggest and best stadiums and declared it to be open. Ukrainian stars Ani Lorak, Taisiya Povaliy and Gajtana gave their performances for all comers.
At 22:00 scene flashed out with fires and the moment has come, long awaited in Kyiv - Colombian singer Shakira appeared on the stage. Having warmed up the audience to the limit, she finished the opening on a high note with fireworks. Kyiv had been waiting for such holiday for a long time and it will remain our memory for ever.
One month later, on November 11, 2011, the first match of international level was held at NSC Olimpiyskiy - the friendly match between national teams of Ukraine and Germany which ended up with draw 3:3. Twice the Ukrainian team had taken the lead in that match with an advantage of 2 goals. Young talents Andriy Yarmolenko (28), Evhen Konoplyanka (35) and team's veteran Sergei Nazarenko (45) scored their goals. 6 goals in that evening became real miracle for spectators of the whole country. It was amazing as for the first match at the renewed arena.
The first match of Dynamo was held on the renewed Olimpiyskiy at the beginning of autumn's part of the Ukrainian championship 2011/2012. March 4, 2012 Dynamo came out on the field as a home team of the great NSC Olimpiyskiy for the match against Arsenal (Kyiv), which had this stadium as a home arena before the reconstruction. Dynamo won with the score 1:0.
Today, after 4 years, NSC Olimpiyskiy continues its life: Dynamo always has its home matches here, different conferences, trainings, seminars, competitions in athletics, weddings, birthdays, fashion shows, exhibitions and concerts are being held here.
