President of the Ukrainian Federation of karate (UFK) - Sergiy Levchuk said that the triumph of the Ukrainian team at the European Championships was the result of hard systemic work of federations, athletes, coaches, all professionals involved in the work on the preparation of the athletes and the competition. Despite numerous problems, lack of funding, difficult relationship with government bodies of sport, our practitioners of karate – who are accustomed to overcome difficulties and develop outside the system - managed to loudly declare about themselves on the world stage and enter into the circle of the grandees of European karate. In the final standings the Ukrianian national team has taken a high 4th place, having beaten many of the leading European countries.
This is why, - Valeriy Borzov stressed, the next year our fighters will have a much harder path to victories. Since the preparation and attitude for them will be more serious. Double-Olympic champion urged athletes and coaches not to relax and celebrate for too long, and to keep working even more insistently on their way to the Olympic goal.
Paul Kyshkar, one of the authors of the draft law No. 4857 "On physical education and sport", made the emphasis on the fact that UFK embodies the modern model of the development of sport on the club basis, which has become a model for the further reform of the Ukrainian sport.
Illia Shevlyak, who has been working with karate as a non-Olympic sport, who knows well the Ukrainian community of karate and sincerely cares about his friends, expressed hope that the State will change its attitude toward karate in general, in particular – will not allow any delays in giving the heroes of the Kodzhael and their mentors the status of "Honored master of sports of Ukraine" and "Honored coach of Ukraine."
Such event - the synthesis of the solemn commemoration and business dialog - was held for the first time in the history of activity of UFK, that headed the Ukrainian karate in 2011. Such pleasant moments is a logical consequence of the victory.
